If you like gimmicky-yet-probably-useless pieces of gear, then you’ll love this new magnetic LED light from TTArtisans. The affordable lens brand has released this little beauty of a video light that pops on top of your hot shoe and lights things up, a little bit. For a short time. And it looks like an old 35mm film canister. What’s not to love?
The light attaches easily via magnet, and can switch between three different colour temperatures: 6000K, 4500K, and 3000K. The rechargeable battery lasts between 80 and 160 minutes, and also features a loop for a lanyard so you can wear it about your neck.
As camera-related paraphernalia goes, it’s at least not entirely useless. However, the brand says that the 15 LED bulbs provide a high brightness output, and the angle can be swivelled around from 0 to 180 degrees.
The light itself gives off around 250Lm, up to a distance of 3 metres. That’s really not a lot of light, however, it might be enough for say a mobile phone or a selfie.
However, for those who love shooting film, it is a fun design. It will set you back just $7 per light, or $70 for a pack of ten, should you be feeling generous and want to gift some to your analogue film buddies.
