
Yesterday, Huawei announced its latest Nova Flip foldable smartphone with some impressive hardware specs and a striking design. And, now today, the Chinese tech giant has unveiled its next-generation two new flagship pads – the Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) and the MatePad Air (2024). Huawei packs some crazy features in both devices, making them Huawei’s most powerful tablet ever. Let’s delve into the details.
The Huawei Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) has a stunning 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 2000 nits peak brightness, and 2800 x 1840px resolution. The panel supports over 1.07 billion colors and a P3-wide color gamut. The tablet features a sleek gold design, measuring just 5.5mm, and weighs 508 grams.
Speaking about processors, Huawei didn’t reveal the processor details, but the Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) is preassumed to feature a modified version of the Kirin 9010 processor. It packs up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The tablet runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.2 out of the box.
The Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) and the MatePad Air (2024) feature a similar dual rear camera setup at the back, consisting of a 13MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide shooter. There is a 16MP shooter on the Pro and an 8MP lens on the Air for selfies and video chats. Both tablets house massive 10,100mAh battery with 100W fast charging on the Pro and 66W fast charging support on the Air.
On the other hand, the MatePad Air (2024) features a 12-inch 2.8K IPS LCD panel with 144Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, P3-wide color gamut, and HDR support. The tablet boasts an all-metal design with a 5.9mm slim profile and weighs 555 grams.
Other notable features of both tablets include AI tricks, four speakers with Huawei sound, PaperMatte technology, Fangtian Painting engine 2.0, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, M-Pencil 3rd Gen stylus, and magnetic keyboard support.
The Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) starts at CNY 4,299 ($600) and comes in Gold, White, and Black color options. While, the MatePad Air (2024) retails at CNY 2,999 ($420) and comes in Green, Feather, Sand White, Cherry Blossom Pink, and Smoky Gray color options. Both tablets will go on sale from August 13th in China.
