LinkedIn is beefing up its AI offerings with tools that it says will help you write cover letters and tweak your resume so it’s better suited for the positions you want. For resumes, the AI will compare a specific job description with your resume and generate feedback about your qualifications and offer suggestions about which experience to highlight. It might even rewrite parts of your resume.Cover letters work the same way. The AI will look at your resume and the job you’re interested in and write a customized cover letter. You can review and edit if the AI isn’t quite capturing your essence properly. “What we want to do is make it easy for folks who have a difficult time telling their story, have a difficult time staring at a blank screen trying to put something together to at least get started,” LinkedIn product manager Rohan Rajiv told Engadget, which took it for a test run and found that the AI did a “surprisingly decent job for a first attempt at a cover letter.” LinkedIn is also providing conversational job searches using AI. Users will be able to ask the AI for specific types of jobs, salaries, and locations, and the AI will look through postings to find it. For example, LinkedIn says you can ask the bot to find you “a remote marketing job in Detroit that pays at least $110,000.”
