Product Description

Custom manufactured film holder for use with APS film (Patent Pending). This model is designed for use with Canon CanoScan 8800F/9000F/9950F and Mark II flatbed film scanners. This was CAD designed and manufactured for use with the obsolete Advanced Photo System (APS) format that was briefly popular in the 1990s. Both Kodak and Fuji stopped manufacturing APS film in 2011.

Scanning uncut APS film has always been a hassle, if not downright impossible. The issue is that the “normal” scanning orientation is perpendicular to the scanning sensor on these models. But doing so means you must pass your film through the top part of the scanner. When a film strip is passed through the top half of the scanner, it invariably obstructs the calibration sensor. This causes lines and weird colors in your scans. The answer is to scan parallel to the sensor. This enables you to avoid the calibration area at the top and allows you to scan uncut APS film in an easy manner.

Important:

Automatic or “thumbnail” mode will not work with aftermarket film holders. You must scan in full manual mode.It may be necessary to use painter’s tape to temporarily secure this holder in the proper position for scanning. Otherwise moving the APS film side to side may cause the holder to move out of alignment.
