Instagram is reportedly working on a new “Blends” feature that will create a Private Reel feed for you and a friend that it thinks both of you would be interested in.The feature was first spotted by a reverse engineer, Alessandro Paluzzi, and later confirmed by the company to TechCrunch.

Based on the screenshot Paluzzi shared, Blends will show “Reels recommendations based on Reels you’ve shared with each other and your Reels interests.”A friend would have to first invite you into a Blend together and it would be private to the two of you. It’s unclear if the recommendations would update over time or if it would be just a one-shot deal. Both users are free to leave at any time.Given that Instagram users already share Reels with friends via DM and through stories, the feature is designed to be a bit more proactive about that sharing and instead allow them to discover some of those viral Reels together.
