Adobe Streamlines the Essential Audio Workflow with new AI Sound Tools in Premiere

Adobe continues to revise the Premiere Pro post-production workflow to make it easier to access essential tools and streamline the post-production process.
This time, it’s for Audio as the essential sound toolset has been redesigned to make editing faster and easier, saving post-production teams time and making the learning curve easier for new adopters.
“Sound creates meaning, and adds impact to film and video – it has the power to help tell a story and move us in ways visuals alone cannot,” said Ashley Still, Senior Vice President and General Manager, of Adobe Creative Cloud.
“We’re proud to empower filmmakers with new workflows that make editing audio more intuitive, so whether they’re new to audio or experienced pros, Premiere Pro makes it faster and easier to find the perfect tool.”

Premiere Pro’s timeline now has new interactive fade handles that enable editors to simply click and drag to create a variety of custom audio fades.
Moreover, a new A.I.-powered tool will identify whether the sound clip is dialogue, music, background noise, or sound effects, with a popup that will provide tools specific to each.

A.I. will automatically tag clips, adding a new icon that gives one-click access to the right tools and controls depending on the type of audio clip it is.
Meanwhile, new visual indicators open effect parameters and make it easier to see which clips have effects.

Users will then be able to easily add new effects or adjust settings without the need to drill down on menus to find the preferred plugin. Redesigned badges in the right-hand corner of the clip give users one-click access to make necessary changes without impacting the rest of the timeline.
An AI-powered remix tool can also adjust the soundtrack and audio timelines to make sure the audio retains a perfect fit after any adjustments have been made.
Adobe has also reorganized the timeline through richer and bolder color coordination, making it easier for editors to identify the audio clip at a glance, and new intelligent waveforms will automatically resize when the track height gets changed, to keep the timeline tidy.

The bottom line here is that through these streamlined changes, Adobe Premiere Pro’s audio tools are easier to see, easier to read, and easier to learn, with A.I. offering a faster workflow to cut down on post-production time.
With new tools coming several times a year, Adobe is proud to report that more than half of all films entered into the 2024 Sundance Film Festival were edited and sweetened using Adobe Creative Cloud.
All told, 57% of the entrants used either Premiere Pro or Frame.io, and 83% of the films used other Creative Cloud applications including Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, or the Substance 3D collection.
Moreover, more than 25 award-winning television shows and films rely on Creative Cloud tools as the core of the post-production workflow.
