Lenovo Teases New Legion Go Gaming Handheld

Lenovo may have just teased a new gaming handheld. Information on the company’s website suggests a possible compact Legion Go handheld. This could be a piece of good news for those who didn’t get the original model due to its large and bulky nature.

Upcoming Lenovo Legion Handheld Will Likely be Smaller and Compact, Just Like the Company Said Before
Lenovo’s Legion Go was a hit. The device used AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU, making it a strong competitor to options like ASUS’s ROG Ally X. However, there’s been no news about a successor. Lenovo has hinted at new models before, and the company teased that they would be compact and lightweight.

New details suggest Lenovo is already working on a smaller version of its popular Legion Go handheld gaming device. The company’s website describes the Legion Go as having a 7 or 8-inch display, which differs from the current 8.8-inch model. This discrepancy hints at an upcoming, more compact device.

Furthermore, the website mentioned features like an HDMI port and a dual-fan cooling system, which are currently absent from the Legion Go. If these specifications are accurate, the new model could offer enhanced connectivity and improved thermal performance compared to its predecessor.

However, Lenovo describes it as a “configuration” of the current model. This implies similar internal components, possibly the same processor. So, there won’t be any big improvement in terms of performance. Yes, a better cooling system will enable the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU to deliver a stable performance.

The main performance bump would be seen when the gaming handhelds integrated the newly launched RDNA 3.5 iGPU. It’s currently present in the Strix Point offerings. But there has not been any word on manufacturers bringing new handhelds with the new AMD lineup. It’s possible that AMD is working on the successor of Ryzen Z1. This could just be a modified version of the Strix Point processors, and we could see the Lenovo Legion Go 2 come with it.
